Team ‘Masculine’ Paper Adventures

Welcome to another fantastic year with Tall Journeys,

Celebrating the 2018 Year with my Paper Adventures Team and our January Blog Hop with a ‘Masculine’ twist.

The best thing about being in a fantastic team like ‘Paper Adventures’ is that everyone supports, encourages, shares with each other, become great friends and so much more.

As I currently don’t have any ‘masculine’ stamps in my collection I was fortunate enough to borrow a couple off Kristel Rimmer from ‘Secretly Scrapbooking’ who is also my upline in our Paper Adventure team.

Considering I don’t create male cards all that often (funnily enough it’s not on purpose.) It has definitely been a way for me to get creative and think outside the box. As I also celebrate a birthday of a great male friend of mine what better way is there then to tie the theme into a personalised handmade card for him.

For this fox inspired card I have used

Soft suede cardstock (base) and for the fox (I have taken use of the fox builder punch), whisper white cardstock for the inside and the front section of the card with a fox sentiment from the Truly Tailored Stamp Set cut using the tailored tag punch. The log stump is fussy cut crumb cake cardstock with the foxy friends stamp set.

Using the dauber technique (my new found love and favourite thing to do) I used the following ink colours- pool party, chocolate chip, tip top taupe and crumb cake. For the trees I have used mossy meadow and old olive (foxy friends stamp set). For a touch of different colour I have used the crushed curry twine. I also must say I do love the 3D mini dimensionals (even if the little pieces end up travelling everywhere throughout the house.)

The second card I created used the same Soft suede, crumb cake and very vanilla card stock with the foil frenzy DSP. Using the hexagons embossing folder and stitched framelits (square and oval) I used the spritzer for the embossing folder and then  ran it through the big shot before using the dauber technique with crumb cake, tip top taupe and chocolate chip ink. Bakers twine came in handy to add that different element to the card. The sentiment stamped on very vanilla is from Botanicals and You stamp set whilst the vehicle stamp is from Guy Greetings.

For an extra bit of surprise I have created the above desk calendar using chocolate chip cardstock with chocolate chip, tip top taupe ink with basic black vehicle from the Guy Greeting Stamp Set. Coloured using the aqua painter and an array of neutral inks. I have also used the square framelits (positioned to create a rectangular frame.)

I hope you enjoy my cards and continue along with the hop where you will meet Kelly Kent from mypapercraftjourney and her unique creations. Just click the ‘NEXT’ button to continue.

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop Sketch It

paper advetures blog hop

Welcome to the last of our Paper Adventurers blog hop for 2017, let’s get all the celebrations under way as Christmas creeps closer.

The idea or theme behind this hop is ‘Sketch’ and it was inspired by Kelly our ‘Paper Adventures’ leader with whom I don’t think many of our team would have expanded to the technological world of blogging. I myself was one of those people!

‘A great team are only as great as the person who leads it.”

The below image is the sketch that we were inspired to use- which brings many themes, textures, and colours to mind….. but where to start.

IMG_3561

I had so much fun in following this sketch, but I must admit I had to wrack my brain hard for it all to come together as I started one design only to have it end up totally different at the end.

IMG_3560IMG_3557

For the above card I have taken advantage of the Perfect Plum, whisper white, garden green and the Elegant eggplant cardstock. I made the card to fit a C6 sized envelope- card measuring 22cm (scored at 11cm) x 16cm.

I have discovered within the new catalogue my new ‘Favourite DSP’ which is the Petal Garden paper stack. This I need to stock up on as Ai will no doubt use it a lot!

I made us of the heat embossing tool alongside with the white emboss powder and the two stamp sets- Better Together case 1 and Thankful Thoughts. I’ve finally made use of my water colour pencils to which I certainly love. The white embossing with watercolour just give the images a chance to shine.

Lastly I used the elegant eggplant ink which is he first time I have used it. I can never have too many inks, my collection is slowly expanding.

Thank you for your support, kind comments and joining my blogging experiences for 2017, let’s hope 2018 is just as thoroughly enjoyable as this year. If you would like to continue on with the hop please click the Next button below and  it will take you to the very crafty and wonderful guest designer Jackie Aitken from JaxxCraftyCreations.

For A Beautiful New Arrival

This time of year as Christmas approaches many families celebrate in a variety of ways, be it traditional or non traditional. This month brings a new expected bundle of joy for dear friends of our little family and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Even more exciting is that everyone has been kept in the dark regarding gender (mind you with my children hubby and I always folded and found out.)

So with this in mind I was feeling very creative and needing just the right card. I also happened to have the perfect stamp/ framelit bundle ‘A Little Wild’ and ‘Little Loves’ together they created something beautiful.

Using very vanilla cardstock it gave me the start I needed to get inspired and bring together a small handful of techniques I have learnt along the way. Such as daubing, using wink of Stella pen, and finally making more use of my grey archival ink.

I used most of my inks in my collection and so far there’s are quite a few, But hey isn’t that why we have a collection of them! Chocolate Chip, Bemuda Bay, daffodil delight, hello honey, tip top tauape, fresh fig, lemon lime twist, tranquil tide, dapper denim just to name a few.

I used mini dimensionals to make the bees pop (got to appreciated those little dimensionals, they do come in handy.)

Thank you for checking out my blog and I hope you enjoyed my personalised card. Should you have any questions or would like me to create a personalised card or product please feel free to contact me.

Enjoy the count down to christmas, until next blog stay safe from

Diagonal Fold Of Happiness

Have you ever wanted to create a card that was a little of out the box, a tad different and just that little bit quirky?

Well this is the card for you!

I found this design on Pinterest by the creative Srushti Patil and instantly wanted to give it a try.

Using one of my favourite ‘In Colours’ cardstocks lemon lime twist and Naturally Eclectic DSP with whisper white cardstock, circled stitched framelits and new ‘In Colour’ Fresh Fig ink and the ‘Love You Lots’ and ‘Tabs for Everything’ stamp sets.

I hope you enjoyed my card and are keen to give it ago.

A Special Wedding

Over the weekend my little family and I had the pleasure of attending a friends wedding and what a beautiful ceremony and reception it was to be apart of. It’s always beautiful watching two people become one in union and to watch their lives evolve as the years tick by.

For the lucky couple I wanted to create a personalised card (which is what I love to do) for them to keep as a memory.

The colour concept and the DSP (designer paper) I just love and thought as the bridesmaids were going to be wearing purple I would add that touch of cardstock to match. (I was devastated however to smug ink on the card and I did forget to take photos of it prior to me writing in it, hence the extra white layer on the left.)

IMG_3552IMG_3556

The card is made to fit into a C6 envelope with three inner sections to write in (as shown in photos.) The centre of the card as a little pocket which enabled us to put a $$ gift towards their honeymoon.

I hope that you have enjoyed this card creation and you are more than welcome to case the idea if you would like. Thank you once again for stopping by and may your afternoon be fantastic!

Until next time, Happy Stamping from Tall Journeys.

Our Non Traditional Christmas

paper advetures blog hop

Welcome to another Paper Adventures Blog Hop with the creations inspired by the ‘Non Traditional Christmas.’

If you are like me when I hear; or the word ‘Christmas’ comes to mind I instantly think of the colours Red, Green and White- (to cover the snow element.) Many families, friends and strangers coming together to share in the festive season and the spirit of Christmas.

The anticipation and lead up to Christmas is a very exciting time when children and adults alike count down the 25 days until ‘Santa’ comes. Many of the advent calendars on the market today either have chocolates in them which my husband I tend to become children again when we purchase one just for fun. Having a baby in the house also now gives us more of an excuse…. now who doesn’t love that!

This blog hop however has the inspiration for the non traditional Christmas… something a little more out of the box which puts the creative elements a bit more into the mix.

So I hope you love what I have created just as much as I do and enjoy our Paper Adventures Blog Hop for November.

The 7 Days till Christmas good wishes box.

img_3546.jpg

With the season of good will in mind when it especially comes to Christmas I have created a 7 draw event box which contains one ‘Pay It Forward’ note. Now I have just thought of a few different ones as you can see below

IMG_3545

Each day ( from 1 to 7) a draw is opened to reveal a task for that day, the idea is to make someone’s day just that little bit brighter.

My Favourite Products

Welcome to another Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop,

paper advetures blog hop

Tonights theme is ‘My Favourite’ this can include anything from DSP, inks, cardstock, stamps, thinlits, embossing, designs and so much more…. the options are endless!!

It was such a hard choice in what to use as I am sure many of you can relate is that choosing a few favourite ‘Stampin’ Up! (r) products is hard let alone one.

As of late my paper crafting has taken a bit of a back seat, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t experienced any withdrawals.

So without stopping the flow of our hop I will give you my favourite paper crafted product.

New In Colour Cardstock Gift Box

I have used 2 of the New In Colour cardstock- Fresh Fig and Berry Burst.

The base of the gift box (berry burst cardstock) measures 12cm x 12cm with the fold in edges measuring 6.8cm with creases at 3.4cm all the way around (take note the corners are cut to contain a tab to join the sides together.) Whisper white cardstock insert measured 12cm x 12cm (but is optional to include.) I decided to stamp the whisper white card stock with the hummingbird from ‘You Move Me’ stamp set using Fresh Fig ink.

The lid (fresh fig cardstock) measures 12.2cm x 12.2cm with the fold in edges measuring 5.2cm with creases at 2.6cm all the way around (take note corners are cut to contain a tab to join the sides together.)

Top of Lid has whisper white cardstock measuring 11.3cm x 11.3cm with the Petal Garden DSP measuring at 11cm x 11cm. I have used the daisy punch to punch out 2 daisies- 1 in fresh Fig and 1 in Berry Burst. To enhance to look of the daisy I added a clear faceted gem. Making use of the oval stitched framelits to display a birthday related sentiment from ‘Pretty Kitty’ stamp set in fresh Fig ink and secured it with dimensionals.

Inside the lid I have used whisper white cardstock insert measuring 12.2cm x 12.2cm (once again optional to include.) I decided the inside of the lid required a pop of colour to match the top of the lid linking the two together by using an off cut of berry burst cardstock measuring  4.4cm x 12.2cm and also cut of piece of Petal Garden DSP measuring 4cm x 10.2cm. I used the oval stitched framelits and stamped the birthday sentiment from ‘Pretty Kitty’ on to using Berry Burst ink and attached it using dimensionals.

i hope you have enjoyed ‘My Favourites’ blog hop and hope you continue along with the fabulous and very creative Kristel Rimmer at Secretly Scrapbooking.

Welcome and Thank you for joining me along the blog hop this evening, you would have just come from visiting the very creative Narelle Simm.

Tonight’s hop involves the new DSP from the Annual and Holiday Catalogues for 2017- 2018. After deciding which new DSP’s stood out to me I purchased quite a few along with a order of the all important coloured card stock. Let’s face it, with paper craft you can NEVER have enough paper!

Three Draw Jewellery or Gift Box

Good evening,

I do hope you enjoyed our ‘Paper Adventures’ Team Blog Hop last night. I have been trying to do some different styles of paper craft and this creation was three days in the making (when I could find time between a waking baby and asleep.)

I discovered this idea through YouTube from the tutorial by Ann’s Happy Stampers- Beautiful Reinforced Jewellery/ Gift Box.

Although I didn’t follow the instructions completely (as I didn’t have all the materials I required) I had to adapt and decided to add different elements to it.

I hope you enjoy my cased creation  below!

For this product I have used a fair few products from the new annual catalogue and a couple of non Stamin’ Up! Items. Below is a list of what materials I have used

Basic Utensils

• Trimmer board, double sided tape, scissors, stamp blocks

Stampin’ Up! Items were

• Lots of Love hostess stamp set, stitched framelits, rich razzleberry, lemon lime twist and powder pink ink. Birthday memories DSP with Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight cardstock.

The non Stampin’ Up! Materials I have used are the blue ribbon and the round pearl circles.

I am keen to make this one again but want to follow the instructions a lot more clearly.

Thank you from Tall Journeys for checking out my blog and have a great weekend with friends and family,

Creativity joins together with the Host Stamp Sets

Welcome again to another Paper Adventures team blog hop with the theme being ‘hostess stamp sets.’

paper advetures blog hop

I haven’t done a current order through the new catalogues so you will have to bear with me whilst I use some of the retired sets. I have been able to use the new/ current DSP, inks and cardstock.

After having a bit of a break away to add the newest and littlest paper crafter ‘Eva’ to our team I haven’t had much of a chance or the energy to paper craft. But it has been lovely getting g back into Stampin and paper crafting, trying to find the time.

I have created two different paper craft products just to break up the cards I make and just to give that something extra to friends, family and gifts for strangers who become friends.

The first creation is a Christmas gift box which can be filled with chocolates or other goodies- I cased the idea through Pinterest from ‘Ribbons & Glue.com’ by Holly Gagnon. For this I used retired Christmas DSP ( 1 sheet of 12×12), scissors, paper trimmer, bone folder, double sided tape, stitched framelits, the hostess stamp set ‘Good Greetings’, Stampin blocks and fresh fig ink. I also used an odd black shoe lace (new) to keep the lid closed on each side.

IMG_6658The second lot of creations using another hostess set I have are below.

IMG_6659

For these gift boxes I have used current cardstock, DSP, stitched framelits, the paper trimmer, double sided tape, the ‘Good Greetings’ and ‘Love You Lots’ stamp sets, along with the powder pink, berry burst, rich razzleberry, tranquil tide and fresh fig ink and stamping blocks. The non stampin’ Up! Items I have used are the pink ribbon and empty toilet rolls. I cased the idea for these from Pinterest created by Ilana from ‘Mommy Shorts’.

the bottom photo are the items I have used for all creations for tonight!
