New Baby Arrival

What can I say,

who can resist a beautiful card to celebrate a gorgeous bundle of love that the stork dropped on the doorstep! As there have been a few babies been born of late I thought I would create something beautiful to match the beauty of babies and the love they give.

I found inspiration for this card just scrolling through Google images (not the DSP or colour cardstock mind you but the lay out of the card.)

Another colourful favourite of mine is the Cupcakes and Carousel DSP which is now retired, yet I still am able to find many uses for along with the corresponding stamp set.

The base colour cardstock used for this card is Calypso Coral with the word ‘BABY’ spelt out using a variety of coloured cardstock which includes- Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugar Plum, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.

The butterflies have been cut out using the Butterfly punch in the colours of Flirty Flamingo and Bermuda Bay (which is a favourite colour of mine.) The butterflies and the letters (large alphabet framelits) have been stuck on with double sided tape, while the butterflies have the added touch of diamante’s (which I picked up from spotlight.)

The bottom fold n the left hand side I have a small circle stitched framelit with the sentiment made with love in the ink colour sweet sugar plum.

With the inside needing something to pop with colour I aligned it with Whisper White cardstock (on each section of the inside card). I also used the oval stitched framelits run through the big shot with the Cupcakes and Carousel DSP and whisper white cardstock. This provided me with a beautiful sentiment with ‘Congratulations’ from the Falling for You stamp set and also the stars from Tabs for Everything. The Inks used for the sentiment were Blushing Bride and Rich Razzleberry.

I hope you enjoy this blog and can gain a little inspiration off it! Apologies to the creator of this card layout design (as I have cased it but do not know the source, it is a fantastic design!)

Thanks for reading and let’s keep Stampin’

Small Card for the Bride

Welcome to an extended Blog addition from TallJourneys,

When the wedding season is upon us (which lets face it, can be all year round) it is always a nice touch to give something other then money for the wishing well or a gift that sometimes the couple getting married already have.

Another idea (along with a gift) is a hand made card or gift (Check out Kelly Kent at https://mypapercraftjourney.com/ – look her up on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest for those who haven’t seen her creations yet! Kelly gifted some handmade thank you cards and a variety of things for a bride and groom.

In addition to wedding cards for the bride and groom as a couple, I created a small 3in x 4in card specifically for the bride (from the matron of honour) in the colours of the Bridesmaids dresses.

For the structure of the card I have used whisper white card stock x 3 of the same size pieces measuring.

  • length-9.6cm
  • width-7.3cm

One of the whisper white pieces I ran through the big shot using the decorative dots embossing folder (now retired).

As the brides chosen colours for her wedding were, sky blue, gold and white I was able to incorporate all of these with the gold emboss powder, ribbons (purchased through spotlight) and a pearl diamante (non stampin’ up). I also have used the circle stitched framelits for the front sentiment (I have also used the Blushing Bride Ink pad) with the Falling for you Stamp Set.

I had a small collection of doilies from a retired Stampin Up pack with I decided to make use of to make the wedding dress and found the following tutorial on pinterest- Angela Maryland from paperpaws.blogspot.com.au

The inside of the card I have used the versamark stamp pad, gold emboss powder and the heat tool with the sentiment from the ‘Flourishing Phrases’ stamp set.

There are many different ideas that can be personally designed to suit any celebration, this is just but one idea.

Specialised Wedding Card

It has been a while since I last posted a blog, so I thought I best get on it and post some of my recent creations but some I am very proud of! A friend of mine asked if I could create a wedding card for her to give to her sister in law and her husband, which I was only extremely happy to do.

I am a big lover of the colours ‘Night of Navy and Whisper White’ together they create a very sophisticated look when used along with the retired Floral Boutique DSP. The card is C6 size with the measurements as follows in Night of Navy

  • length- 27.8cm
  • width- 16cm
  • centrefold- 10.9- 11cm
  • zig zag indent fold- 6cm, 4cm, 2cm

Using the Night of Navy cardstock as the base (following above measurements) I also have trimmed an extra piece of Night of Navy which measures

  • length- 12cm
  • width-5cm

(an extra piece of Night of Navy was used with the Square Framelits, creating the front of the card.

I have also taken advantage of using the Vellum pearl coloured paper trimmed slightly larger then the Night of Navy.

  • length- 12.5cm
  • width- 5.5cm

Using Whisper White cardstock for the backing and for the inside of the card which have the following measurements (in total you will require 2 of these pieces).

  • length- 15.7cm
  • width- 10.7cm

also for the front zig zag section of the card I Whisper White was used measuring

  • length-15.7cm
  • width-1.5cm

I have also used whisper white card stock to create an extra pop out section (stuck on to the inner first crease of the Night of Navy cardstock. the measurements for this is

  • length- 11.5cm
  • width-9.5cm

(I wrote a poem which I specifically had printed just on A4 printer paper and just cut the image to size.)

For the front of the card I used the Square layering framelits as well as with the Lovely Lace embossing folder on a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, measurements below.

  • length 11.5cm
  • width-4.5cm

The Floral Boutique DSP used  for the front of the card measures

  • length-10.3cm
  • width-15.3cm

The  front zig zag section is

  • length-10.3cm
  • width-1.2cm

whilst the inner DSP section of the card comes in at

  • Length-11cm
  • width-9cm

To complete the finishing product I have used the silver embossing powder, versamark ink pad, heating tool, falling for you stamp set along with a couple of non Stampin’ Up! products- white see through ribbon and a pearl diamante.
